Ethiopia the First Choice for Adoption

I've read several post recently from families that chose Ethiopia after they had pursued adoptions in other countries. I'm just curious how many families chose Ethiopia as their first choice.

Let us all know what other countries that you considered.

Can't believe I'm the first to comment! Not sure if this counts, but my DH and I researched many countries before. We actually didn't even realize Ethiopia was an option at first. But after all the research, we have been fully on-board. So, we did research, but Ethiopia is the only country we actually went through the process for.

We did. And if it doesn't work out, if they turn us down or if the whole thing shuts down,
there's no 2nd choice. I can give you a whole bunch of logical, rational reasons why Ethiopia, but none of them matter as much to me as the gut, inherent rightness of the feeling that I can't adequately explain.

Because my family is from DR I looked into that country while looking into Ethiopia. But at the end of the day, Ethiopia was the only program that I pursued, this is where my child is.

I looked into adopting from Brazil when we first decided on international adoption. At this point though I am not sure if we will ever adopt.....

I briefly considered US foster care, but Ethiopia is the only country I actively pursued.
